Six crews dealing with ‘severe fire’ at a house in Birmingham – updates



A ‘severe fire’ has broken out at a house in Birmingham which has needed six crews to try and contain. The incident – in a roof space of a property in Bordesley Green – was reported by West Midlands Fire Service at 9.53pm on their social media channels.

Six crews are currently at the scene and the force have warned the public to avoid the area. No further information has been released. A statement on West Midlands Fire Service’s Twitter account read: “We currently have 6 crews dealing with a severe fire in roof space of a house Bordesley Green, Birmingham. Please avoid the area!”

According to data collected by gov.uk, Fire and Rescue Services attended 537,039 incidents in the year ending September 2021, virtually no change compared with the previous year (539,418). Of these incidents, there were 145,208 fires which was a five per cent decrease compared with the previous year (153,438).

There were 243 fire-related fatalities up to September 2021 – a slight increase from 231 in the previous year.
