Have you ever wanted to work behind the scenes of our world famous security services? Well, this might be your chance as MI5 and MI6 are on the hunt for software engineers and internal auditors.
The services are known around the globe. And, while there don’t appear to be any spy jobs going – not in the public domain anyway – there are a number of lucrative vacancies available.
Two software engineer jobs are live in Central London/Greater Manchester in the ‘Technology Roles’ department. One is a senior position, which would bag whoever lands the job a salary of between £60,285 to £70,860 per year.
The job description reads: “Technology sits at the heart of everything we do at MI5 and MI6, enabling us to disrupt serious threats to UK national security. We’re currently looking for software engineers who can be a technical leaders.
“You will play a vital role in a team that ensures we can stay ahead in an evolving digital world. You will share our collective responsibility to keep the country safe and be keen to constantly improve yourself and your team.
“We actively encourage engineers to learn about our mission and build relationships with people working in those teams. There are lots of opportunities to help you understand how MI5 or MI6 really works so we build better products.”
If that doesn’t take your fancy, there are also two positions for internal auditors available. Again, one is a senior role but with a £50k salary annually.
Those who apply for either job should be prepared to move to either London or Cheltenham. The job description reads: “In this role, you’ll manage and deliver internal audit assurance and advisory work to MI5, MI6 and GCHQ at pace, covering a wide range of topics.
“This will include topics that are truly unique to the intelligence community, such as reviews of mission-focused capabilities and adherence to the legal framework underpinning our mission work.”
