Juventus handed £50m warning amid links to Aston Villa ace

Juventus are reportedly lining up a summer swoop for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, as the Serie A giants look to upgrade on Wojciech Szczęsny.

The Argentina number one is claimed to be a top target for Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri this summer according to Argentinean outlet TyC Sports. The report states that Allegri has made a request to the club’s chiefs for Martinez to be acquired. However, it would likely take a huge offer for Villa to be tempted into parting ways with the player.

Martinez has recently committed his future to Villa after signing a new deal to remain at Villa Park until 2027 and although a deal seems unlikely to happen, Villa fans have had their say on the recent rumours linking the player with a move away this summer:

AV Ken11: Nobody that Steve values will be sold by the club.

PacMan38: Key players involved in Steven Gerrard’s plans will be going nowhere, that is the only thing Villans need to know so no cause for any concerns.

EmmaRoid1: All good players are wanted by other clubs but some are just unobtainable, Emi is one of those.

Lupin121: In my mind. Emi is worth more than Jack Grealish. One of our best keepers through the years. We won’t sell him.

Chosen in 1957: There are only 2 players currently in the team that cannot be sold. Emi Martinez is rated by all data bases as one of the top 6 goalkeepers in the world, and he’s also the best professional player at the club. The only other player who’s going nowhere is JJ Ramsay, who has the potential to become an international class midfielder.

CoolRuler1: I am not surprised they would want him, as he is in my opinion, in the top 5 keepers on the planet currently. He would easily command in excess of £50m.

WaterOrton12: How do you put a price on such an excellent player. I think he enjoys being at the club and he knows the supporters love him here.

G_813: Let’s assess this quickly. Big Emi frequently states how happy he is here. To even get us to contemplate considering an offer it would realistically take a record fee for a goalkeeper given his status as one of the best keepers in world football. Last I checked, Italian clubs don’t tend to have that kind of cash lying about, certainly not to spend on one player, even if its to patch arguably Juventus weakest position, and especially given their need for younger centre backs.

SleepingGiant3: Villa are building not dismantling, players in Gerrard’s plans won’t be going anywhere and that is guaranteed and Emi is very much part of the big plan.
